Hi,

I have got my admissions for MBA in the USA. I have a good score in both GMAT as well as TOEFL. Finances also will not be a problem. But transfers to my account have been very recent, as in, various financial transfers have been made to it in the past yr. I have heard VO's can harp on this info. Is it true? If so, how can i handle this?

Hi friends,
Just wanted to share with you our experience.
I am on OPT since Dec 21,2007 and my wife applied for F2 visa on 5th Feb, 2008. Her interview was in English, since we could not get hold of regional dates. She was not comfortable with the English of the visa officer, and hence could not answer him, which resulted in a rejection with 214B.
We took another appointment on 25th Feb and this time got a regional slot with the help of a travel agent. This time she was asked :
1. When did u get married ?
2. What is b'date of your husband ?
3. What is he doing there ? Where is he working ?
4. Your brother is in US, where is he working ?
5. Why do you want to go to US ?

Thats it... no documents asked for. Only standard questions... and we are thru........

Good Luck to you all people trying for any type of visas.
The only advise I would give is : look straight in their eyes, do not look down while talking. they are psychologists for sure, and with loads of experience. You cant tame them easily.

Went to Nogales.
Day 1 - had interview and advised that everything was ok except for PIMS
Day 3 - consulate holiday
Day 4 - advised to be back to consulate, when I got there they returned my passport no visa. said they wanted to see my employer. What?!!!
DAy 5 - office was on holiday
Day 6 - consulate on holiday
Day 7 - employer spoke to office and got appt for Day 14!
Day 14 - employer came and had interview. no questions that are really worth his presence. could been discussed on the phone. Officer said I could come back PM. I came back and they did not give visa, said a lousy reason that it could not be printed advised next day.
Day 15 - i emailed early the consulate asking if i could get it. the response was: "come at 3 pm. if we don't have additional checks, you might get it today"....What?!!
Then I went and finally got it.

Not going to Nogales ever again!

Whew!! wow until now i still cant believe i was granted a visa.. lemme share a lil bit of my story yesterday in the us embassy when i had my first time interview with my mom...

our confirmed appointment time is at 9:30am Monday, January 28, 2008. and ofcourse we arrived one hour early.. actually much earlier than expected.. outside the embassy you could already see how massive the applicants are even from a far and they are all waiting for their que to be accomodated. So from the first lane, my mom and i entered on the Non-Immigrant lane to show the email confirmation letter from the us embassy and our duly filled out DS-156 and DS-157 and then we were asked to proceed to the embassy pavillion. We were somewhat at lost at the moment because of the overwhelming number of people inside, so i sat down on the vacant seat with my mom at the front row and had the courage to ask the girl next to me on how to get the number for our finger printing and then a guy in a white longsleeves aswered me to get the number pointing the window in front of me.. and ofcourse i said thank you for letting us know then ;) then right after that we had our passports taken by the filipino officer for finger scanning.. then we waited for almost an hour to be called to do so, and after which we were asked to proceed to Non-Immigrant Visa Room.. from there you could get to hear all the applicants who have been successful and not.. they were told like this...

Visa Officer: Sorry but we cannot grant you a visa, you can re apply next time if you have enough supporting documents..

there it goes.. so upon hearing that my got pounding and it was truly nerve racking... our eyes (my mom and i) were really stick and keeping a good look at the computer -automated number posting and when our turn has finally come.. we immediately approached the consul hoping its not the good-looking man on the 4th window.. and good thing he wasnt as we were assigned in the next window after him.. and the interview goes like these...

ME and Mom: Good morning

Consul : Good morning
(she was looking at me)

Consul: how old are you (then look down on my application form)

ME: 26yrs old

Consul: how are u related?

Mom: She is my daughter

ME: My mom

Consul: (reads my Ds-156) so you are with this hotel?

Me: yes

Consul: for how long?

Me: A year and 2months

Consul: how much is your monthly pay?

Me: roughly that's about 32,000 a month inclusive of our service charge

Consul: is that before taxes or after taxes?

Me: before taxes

Consul: So how much after taxes

Me: that's about 25 to 26,000

Consul: (typing something on her computer)

Me: would you like to see the computation? (offering my certificate of employment)

Consul: no need. Thank you.. okay, so what do you exactly do in this department?

Me: i handle our petty cash and reimbursables of our international management and prepare the monthly analyis

Consul: (Check my DS-157) Why did you leave your previous job?

Me: a friend of mine who works in this prestigious hotel asks me to join the team which i considered as it is in line with my career goal to be in a hospitality industry although my previous job has been a very good training ground for me..

Consul: What else you would do in the US?

Me: We actually really wanted to visit my auntie and my cousins who i have not seen for more than two decades now and since my mom wanted to experience the winter season we will be visiting the Mt. Laguna Julian, about 2hour drive fromt their place.

Consul: (looks at my mom) how long do you intend to stay there?

Mom: im sorry? pardon?

Consul: (turns her eyes at me)

Me: (smiles at her without looking at my mom as i know my mom is already getting nervous)

Consul: (repeats her question)

Mom: 20days only.

Consul: how many children do you have?

Mom: (her voice is cracking up this time)i have four children

Consul: oh.. four kids

Mom: Yes, three of them are already professionals and the youngest is pursuing medicine in lasalle at the moment.

consul: how about granchildren?

Mom: i only have one, he is 10months old and stays with me.

Consul: i see. (starts writing on our application and checks our passports then took the yellow slips that says : Your VIsa has been approved!

Consul: is there still many petty cash going around now a days or more on credit cards payments already?

Me: Well, its really more of credit cards transactions now but the petty cash is being used by our internal associates.

Consul: how about your peak season?

Me: that's december to january actually that we are always fully book. and high occupancy.

Consul: what do you do when its fully book?

Me: we also offer other hotels nearby and even offer our club level however its rate is higher

Consul: Okay, congratulations! you may proceed to the pavillion to pay the courier fee.

Me and my mom: Oh thank you.

Me: Have a pleasant day! (smiles)

(walk a way)

Woohoo!!! that was a bit intense eh.. a lil nerve racking for my mom but as for me.. gee a gfot stunned but not so nervous.. wow.. never thought it would be that easy without a single document presented.. its like we could have gone there empty handed.. hehe ;)

anyhow, thank Jehovah God for granting and blesses our efforts.. we are truly grateful indeed..

Hope my story could somehow help others in preparing themselves for their future interview..

Godbless!!

It brings back memories reading all this. I am 35 years old living here in DC metro area. My first Visa was rejected in 1993 3 times (Student visa) and 94 (2 H1 rejects). Finally got my H1B in 96 and came to US in 96. Got my green card in 2001 and US Citizenshp in 06. Plus got my MS (company paid fully) etc....So I guess it was a boon in disguise....
