Amazon.com Services LLC pulled ahead to become the top H1B sponsor in 2022, filing 16,307 H1B petitions during the calendar year. This is nearly double their 2021 numbers, when the online shopping and media giant filed just 8,846 H1B petitions. 2021’s top H1B sponsor, Cognizant Technology Solutions slips to second place this year, filing 13,907 H1B applications in 2022; though still an increase over its 12,681 petitions in 2021.

Once again, Software Engineer was the job title garnering the greatest number of H1B petitions in 2022, followed again by Software Developer. As in previous years, these two job titles represent nearly three to four times the number of H1B petitions of any other job title. Other job titles with high numbers of H1B petitions included Assistant Professors, Architects, and several other IT positions.
