ADJUSTMENT OF STATUS
Hi guys, I just wanted to thank everyone because this forum has been so helpful thought out the whole process. PD date January 2017. NEWARK NEW JERSEY.
I married my husband July 2016 but filed I-485 until January 2016. I was a DACA recipient for 4 years so I've had a Social Security Card and drivers license since. My husband and I filed everything ourselves without an attorney. To make story shorter we had our interview yesterday November 28th in Newark NJ. We got called in and this young man am guessing in his mid 30's walked us into his office. We swore to tell the truth and from there on everything went smoothly. He asked to take my picture and fingerprints. We all joked around for a bit about what we planned on eating for dinner later and he seemed very nice. He got a bit more serious and started going over our applications, he asked me a few questions from the form just to verify everything was correctly. finally he decided to interview my husband who was the petitioner he asked basic questions of how we meat, and when was our first date. My husband explained everything with detailed and wrote everything down as my husband was speaking. He only asked me for my husbands full name, date of birth and our address. He asked to see some pictures and I handed him a scrap book and a few loose pictures with family and friends. He complimented a few pictures and thanked both of us for our services, my husband being a Marine Veteran and I am an EMT at a local rescue squad. He asked me what I was going to school for and I told him I was majoring in Nursing, he seemed very impressed. I told him I have been here since I was 9 years old, and I am now 23 and have never been back to my home country COSTA RICA. He shook our hands and told us he would try to approve everything before my medical expires in January. And whished us happy holidays.
Overall it has been an stressful experience for the past year but at the end is all worth it. Just be patient. I will let you guys know when I have my green card in hand.
Any questions please let me know!!
