Expedite Advance Parole for DACA
I would like to share my experience about requesting an expedite advance parole under DACA program.
I am currently under DACA (already renewed) and had my maternal grandfather very sick and decided to request parole. We received the original documents from the doctor in Mexico on Sunday July 27, 2015. On Monday went to the Federal Building in Los Angeles but they said we had to go to the Filed Office in our Area so we had to drive to the San Fernando Valley Field Office, once arrived the officer said we have to arrive at 6:30am the next day for us to be able to talk to an officer if we didn't have an appointment.
So we went back on Tuesday, we were the third in line and we had all the forms, fee's, pictures; the officer then asks for the reason of your emergency and I told him that my grandfather was very sick, he didn't even ask for any papers, just said that the only way they give advance parole - same day is if the person has died. I came home and sent it next day and wrote EXPEDITE REQUEST on top, two days after I called USCIS and they submitted the application I-131 to be expedite but was not guaranteed.
My grandfather passed away on August 9, 2015 and I received approval notice August 10, 2015 and valid only for 30 days with expiration date September 10, 2015.
Very frustrated because I was not able to see my grandpa before dying but was able to travel to Mexico after 13 years and returned safe, I was on the waiting room for approx. 20 mins, no questions asked, just stamps on my passport and parole.
Hope it helps.
