Need help on H1B visa appointment in Toronto consulate
Hi Friends,
I have a recent visa appointment scheduled in Toronto Canada. I have everything set. Few questions.
1) I recently noticed in my spouse profile last name have 2 parts with space only one part is showing. Ex ABC DEFG.It shows DEFG only.
2) also her visa class is H4. But is overrided as H1B like me.
It is a group appointment. I am trying to change these details to send email customer service but they are again again sending DS160 change details. My DS160, Petition, passport all details are correct. Will it be a problem during the appointment. Mine everything looks good. Can I able to.correct it in the consulate entrance by showing the required proofs for my wife. Your advice is highly appreciated.

H1B & H4 stamping at Ottawa TCN
Hello

This website helped me alot with the Visa renewal preperations and it is my turn to post the details. My 4th visa renewal and 3rd time being in Canada as TCN. Drove to Ottawa and was being stopped at Canada border because of crossing with the expired US visa then asked us to go the immigration building. Finally the immigration officer inside the building granted the entry after showing the proofs on the reason for visiting the Canada. So, I would advise please be prepared with all the required details at the border.

Visa Interview was on 02/26 at 10:20AM. Stood with family in the line at 9 AM (freezing cold) and was allowed at 10AM when our turn came as there were already 50 people in the queue. Once we entered they checked the Canada status, DS160, I797 & Photo for H1B & H4 applicants alng with the appointment confirmations. Then go through the security check. After this we will enter the consular section where we need to be in the line for document verifications (H1B & H4). Once done we need to do the biometric in the next counter and finally we stand in the interview line. Consular is polite male officer there was a rejection for senior applicant before and then we were called asked standard questions (Experience, Company back ground, Education, If I am illegal anytime and made some jokes (later was told officer was picking on me), then asked couple of questions to my daughter who is 12 years, no questions to my spouse. He said our visas are approved and officer informed us we can pick up passports at 3PM same day if we are staying nearby. He gave the stickers required for collecting the passports and then left the building. We were out by 10:50AM approx. Once back to apartment DS160 status was approved and later at 2:30 it changed to issued on the same day. Drove back to embassy and was asked for stickers to collect the PPs at the entrace. Went through the security check and asked us to go to biometric window where we need to ring the bell. Officer asked for the stickers and handed over the PPs. Greeted and left the embassy with the stamped PPs. Drove back on 03/01 and standard questions at US border and was asked to go to US immigration building as we are H1B & H4 visa. Need to pay 6USD per applicant and stamped the PPs and then finally left the border may this was 30 min wait time at the US border. We took the Alexandria Bay border post on both the routes. Advise weather is freezing cold in canada so be prepared and were not allowed any people who are not in appointment confirmation unless you have a translator. This appointment I got in July'2024 and never found a earlier appointment to re-schedule.

Hope this helps and for staying I have booked a Apartment in Bookings nearby the embassy (Byward market).

Thanks

H-1B and H4 Stamping at Toronto, CA
Hello,

Here is my experience from recent interview at Toronto, CA - US Consulate.

Feb 4th : Reached Consulate around 7:30 am for 7:45 am appointment.
Consular officer asked standard questions like:
1) What is the job role?
2) Which company you are working for?
3) Have you done Masters in US? If so, what's the major?
4) What kind of projects you work on at your Job?

It was straight-forward, done in 5 minutes. Did not ask any question regarding the H4.
Finally he said your VISAs are approved and you will get your passports back in 1 week.

Immediately after the VISA interview - both mine and my wife's DS-160 status changed to "Approved".

Feb 18th : DS - 160 Status changed to "Issued"

Feb 19th : Got an email that Canada Post picked up my passports for the delivery.

Feb 20th : Got an email that passports are ready for the Pick-up.

If you have any questions or need more info - Please let me know.

H4 for minor who turned 14 at Ottawa
Hello Everyone, this page was a great support for me. thank you all for that.
My daughter turned 14 and this was her first stamping thereafter.my company lawyer advised me against going to Canada, Mexico but I needed the stamp so I anyways went. Here is the timeline
25 nov-Interview at 10:30 am. you first go through security check, they keep everthing, you just get to carry your documents inside. Next they verify documents, they checked my valid stamp, both our 797, my daughters birth certificate and my evl. Next she was fingerprinted and finally the VO took a short interview, he informed us that the visa is approved. he asked us to collect the passport next day. status changed to approved when we left the embassy.
26 nov-status changed to issued, passport was handed out at 3pm at the embassy itself.

Hope this helps!!

H1B Visa Renewal in Vancouver 15th Nov, 24: Passport not delivering: Visa Issued (Canada Postr Strike)
Hi,
I had my H1b visa interview on 15 Nov, in Vancouver.
Status changed to approved on 15th Nov(Friday) and issued on 18th Nov(Monday).
I opted for premium delivery via Canada Post, and there was a strike.
I was unable to select BLS location from the portal.
On 27th Nov, I contacted the embassy and they updated the location to BLS Vancouver.
Now, I have still not received my passport tracking number.
The portal has updated the address but when I click "continue" -> "update Delivery location", it lands on "Edit Courier Details" page.
There I am able to now see the timeline on the top, where it shows green check mark for "applicant information" but shows RED cross on Courier.
Note: I am able to change address to other BLS locations.

Has anyone else had similar experience, and how did they get past this (or had their tracking number available)?
