DUI and Citizenship
Hi everyone. I am about to submit my citizenship application. But I have a complication: I have a DUI conviction from 2023. I do also have a couple of speeding tickets over the past 3 years. Has anyone had their citizenship application submitted within five years of similar or other crimes? I would like to get your insight, please. Thank you.

December 13- Interview Was Scheduled
Interview date- January 22, 2025

Interview day-When I arrived for my interview, I was greeted by the immigration officer, who escorted me to her office. Before starting, I took an oath to speak the truth. She then asked for my passport and a form of ID, briefly verified my name, and returned them to me. Without delay, she began the writing test, which was quick and straightforward. Next came the reading test, where I was asked to read one sentence in English.

After completing the tests, she asked me to confirm on the iPad that all the information I provided was truthful and accurate. Then we moved on to the civics and American history test. I answered all six questions correctly, so this part was completed quickly as well. She informed me that I had passed everything.

The officer then reviewed my N-400 form, confirming the details I had provided. She asked the standard yes-or-no criminal history questions and whether I wanted to make any changes to my form. I requested her to update the section about updating my Social Security card, marking it as “Yes,” which she did. Finally, she asked if I wanted to change my name, but I declined.

After congratulating me on passing the interview, she mentioned that i’m taking the Oath the same day here. I was asked to wait in the waiting room, where I stayed for about 2.5 hours. Once my naturalization certificate was ready, I was directed to a separate room for the oath ceremony. The ceremony lasted about 20-25 minutes. At the end, we were given time to take pictures and review our certificates to ensure all the details were correct.

Overall, the process went smoothly, and I was thrilled to become a U.S. citizen on the same day. I hope this helps anyone preparing for their interview!

Good luck everyone !

Will I get denied and even get deported?
Hi, I have an interview on N-400 next month and I was applying for Insurance through healthcare.gov just now and through out the application, I answered “yes” on “Are you US citizen or US national?” Thinking since I am green card holder that I am US National and submitted the application and after some research I quickly realized that I made an error and changed the application literally two minutes after I submited the application to “no” on the answer and provide my green card information. Did I just make Falsely claim on US citizen? And do I need to disclose that on my interview and will I have issue on my application?

Citizenship Interview
Interview experience was quite smooth, English exam was state name and write a small sentence in English. Civics was author of constitution, number of senators, number of SC justices, current president etc. Officer was clear in instruction and professional. Pleasant experience, got the oath date the same day prior to leaving the USCIS office.
