recieved only one copy of AP (I-512L)
Back in January 2018 I filed I-131 form to get an AP. In March 2018 I got the AP paper (I-512L) from USCIS in the mail. There was only one copy of AP in the mail. At that time I didn't know that there should be 2 copies of AP, so I assumed that everything is fine and I will be able to travel. The paper said that AP is valid for multiple reentries until March 2019 (basically for 1 year from the date of approval). In June I was going back from an international trip and was entering US in SEA airport. The officer asked me why I have only one original copy of AP and I said that that is all that USCIS sent me. He said that they will have to keep that original copy for records. I notified him that this is only one copy that I have and that I'm expected to have another upcoming international trip. He said that he can not do anything other than make a paper copy of the AP in place, but he said that I will not be eligible to enter US with that paper copy. After that he let me go. So right now I'm in US on advanced parole status waiting for my AOS approval but i don't have any paper that will allow me to enter US next time. The upcoming trip should be in a week and I'm not sure what to do. I feel like I will have to cancel the trip. Do I have any other options?

TRAVELING TO HAWAII WITHOUT AP
I sent my documents in April and had Biometrics in May. Nothing else after that. We planned our honeymoon to Hawaii because we thought it's still in the US as its one of the states so they will not ask me for an AP document. I have just overstayed my B2 Visa from December (I had 6 months because I have canadian passport). I married my USC husband in December.

PLEASE HELP! Am I good to go?
We spent lots of money on this trip!

Anyone experienced this?

Advance Parole experience
On Monday June 4th, 2018, I returned to the USA from a month long international trip using my Advance parole based on a pending I-485 petition (family based AOS). Some background to my petition, I was approved for I-765 and advance parole back in September 2017 (PD of May 2017). Card was lost in between the Post office and my mail box. So I was asked to reapply with full fees for replacement which I did in February 2018 after unsuccessful communication between the USPS and the USCIS.

Fortunately, the USCIS was very efficient this time around as replacement was done within 2 months. In April 2018 the USCIS returned my full payment I remitted for card replacement. Instead, they generously issued me another 1-year Combo card. I hope by the time I go for my I-485 interview, my card will still be valid.

The point is that using Advance parole I was able to return to the U.S., back to my family, with no issues. The process was efficient and seamless. I thank God and this sharing community at large. Feel free to use your Advance parole.

Advance Parole
Hello!

I have been reading entries on this forum for a while. I applied for permanent residency last November, 2017. I am from Brazil and got married to an American, which is why I applied for the green card. I did my biometrics in December, received my Combo Card ( work authorization and advance parole) in March. I was very concerned about traveling even though I had the AP card. However everything went smoothly!

I traveled outside the US for three weeks, and returned to the Miami airport. I gave them my passport and AP card. They asked me to follow them to a little room, and I waited for about 10-15 min. They had to check that my application for adjustment of status was still pending. After that, they just stamped my passport and I was good to go!

They just need to check that your application hasn't been denied. If you have the AP card, you should have nothing to worry about. Travel! :)

positive experience with traveling with Advance Parole
Hi all,
after researching a lot about experiences of others with traveling with an advance parole card I want to add my experience since it was a really good one! I am in the process to become a permanent resident (marriage based, filed I485) and just waiting for my interview appointment notice. I just used my Advance Parole to visit my family in Germany for a month and my husband and I just returned into San Francisco Airport yesterday evening. The re-entry was easy and quick, I just had to go to a secondary check, which is the common procedure when you use that card and all they wanted to know was where I am at in the AOS process right now. That was it, the officer said you're fine and we were good to go. It went way quicker than I thought. I was a bit worried before traveling because an immigration lawyer told me it was risky to use the Advance Parole and he would advise me to only use it in case of an emergency. I asked another immigration lawyer (Jacob Sapochnik, San Diego) and he said I could travel. I took his word, I really wanted to go. I am really glad I took the risk since I hadn't seen most of my family and friends for 2 years and in the end the whole experience was very positive.
I am happy to be able to add something positive here :). Hopefully it will encourage some of you!
Ps. I file for AOS in September 2017 and am still waiting for the appointment notice for the green card interview at this point.
Greetings, Kat

Emergency Advance Parole Travel/Overstay.
Hey guys please need your thoughts on this. Thanks in advance.

My mum passed on recently and I got approved for an emergency advance parole to attend her funeral next month. I have a pending AOS. I have done my interview and it went well still waiting for the GC. (Atlanta field office).

I overstayed my B1 visa for 3 years before my AOS through marriage.

My lawyer says I shouldn't travel!!! that I will trigger the 10 years ban.
This is my MUM!!!

Peoples experiences here says otherwise.

I want to ignore her advice and travel .

Advanced parole
Hello guys
I want to ask for recommendations. I want to travel to my country for a week. I am still waiting my interview. I received the approval of my I-130 in January. I didn't received my EAD yet because they asked me for more documentation which I sent already. I requested for an advanced parole also and they sent me the approval letter. I have been 13 months here. So my I-94 expired due to I arrived here with a b1 visa. I am afraid to leave the country and wouldn't be able to re enter because I don't feel that the advanced parole is safe. I am afraid to leave my husband here and I couldn't live without him. I just want to know if having the advanced parole , passport and my I-130'approval , my receipts will be enough for re enter, knowing that I don't have the EAD yet.

Traveling with combo card first week of May 2018
Hello everyone I posted a couple of days ago about my intention to travel with AP and I actually did use my combo card through the Fort-Lauderdale airport, I went to Panama for 7 days and came back with no issues, I knew exactly what it was going to happen thanks to many of the experiences posted here, when I came back they put me in the tourist line, the officer was very kind he took my fingerprints and took a picture as well, he did not ask any question about the reason of my trip he check everything on his computer took my passport and escorted me to a room where I waited less than 10 minutes, then I was called my passport was stamped for a year and they told me welcome to the United States, I was so happy and relieved because I was a little worried I have to be honest but thank God everything was really smooth, I also want to add that I came here with a visa and I overstayed for 4 years I got married to a US citizen and I got my advance parole through marriage, I have never had DACA, so now I'm waiting for my interview which should be coming soon I filed my application last year in October, in January I received an update saying that my case was ready for interview and have been waiting since then in April the status changed to "At this time USCIS cannot provide you with information fo your case" I investigated and apparently is a pattern that happens before receiving the interview date. Finally I want to encourage everyone with a similar case to take the risk but I wouldn't advise to travel if you've had criminal records that would definitely be an issue otherwise go for it and enjoy it. Good luck!
