What is Post Approval Activity?

Can anyone share their experiences at the airport while traveling with parole and having TPS? Thanks

Dear all,
I have a question regarding extension of EAD.
my I-140 was approved on 11/16
EAD and AP combo card received in 03/17 which is valid till 02/28/18
I have a valid H1-B status till 02/2019. I applied for EAD just in case I wanted to change the employer
However, I traveled outside the country using my AP and was paroled back in US on 12/05 until 12/18/18 (one year)
My I-485 is pending since 12/27/16
Now I want to apply for extension of my EAD and not sure what is my status now and on which status I entered the country.
According to my attorney, as soon as I use AP, my H1-B becomes null and void and I switch to I-485 pending status
According to my employers attorney, as long as I have a valid H1-B and do not change the employer, status will remain H1-B regardless how I entered the country (using AP or VISA stamp).

Does someone has the similar experience?
Could someone advice me what to do here, who to believe?

HI all, need help and advice. I apply for advance parole (TPS) and USCIS approve I-131 and I-512L but they only send one copy of I-512L. When I research online every one got two copy of I-512L. Is it ok to travel with just one copy of I-512L? I am travelling next week any suggestion will be appreciated. Thank you.

I have been reading this forum and i saw few positive posts as well.

I have concurrently filed i-131,i-765,i-485
Received the package on November 21st.
Bio-metrics on December 21st.

I sent a request to expedite the i-131 and it i got USPS notification that the letter reached the Missouri NBC on 01/11.
But i could not find any update when am checking online cases status.

I have to travel to India urgently next week.My lawyer is saying that i should not travel until i receive the Advance parole.She is saying that i wont be able to re-enter if i travel now and she has seen cases like that recently.

But i have my H1B extension approved.Though I need to get it stamped from India.

Any thoughts on this?

My lawyer received the letter saying my Employment Authorizantion and Advanced Parole had been approved on December 17th. I didn;t receive my letters and the lawyer said it should have been the holidays and USPS should have been too busy. But it had been 2 weeks since my lawyer got the notice so I contacted USCIS and they told me the card had been sent and gave me a tracking number.
Here we go:
- the card was delivered on December 16th, 2017.
- it was delivered to my nexdoor neighbor because my lawyer filled in the form with the incorrect apartment number and we didn't see it. (I found it out by myself after having all the cameras in my building checked, after thinking my mail had been stolen, and all the possibilities, i decided to go over the forms and found out the mistake)
- my neightbor doesn't know me and instead of giving the letter to the concierge desk of our building or dropping the envelope in the outgoing mailbox, HE OPENED MY MAIL AND DROPPED ONLY THE CARD IN THE MAILBOX.
- the card was a loose item in the mailbox. On the back of the card, there are directions for USPS when they find the card : the card was sent to USCIS in Missouri. I talked to a post marter at USPS who recognized my last name and confirmed the card was sent to Missouri on Demecer 29th. No tracking number though.
- now my card is considered as lost, although I never received it. USCIS officers don't seem to know what's the procedure in Missouri when they get these lost cards.
- I haven't received the official approval notices either, and my neighbor probably threw them away and doesn't want to admit it.
- we planned out wedding in my home country and it's in March - we have put a lot of money already and have people flying from all around the world, with hotel and tickets already purchased. Our lawyer is not helping much, he keeps telling us to wait because he doesn't seem to understand it's a loose card. He says he calls USCIS and they say we have to wait for them to get the "undelivered mail". But this is definitelly NOT my case, cause the neighbor opened the mail, dropped THE CARD ONLY in the mail box, USPS found it and sent it in another envelope to MISSOURI.
- does anymody know what they do with the cards when they get them in Missouri?
- In case they destroy the cards in Missouri, I understand I will have to apply to a replacement, but it takes 90-120 days to get the replacement, and that means I wouldn't have my card before my wedding.
- On the other hand, I have already been approved and I was wondering if there is still hope that I could get any document that would allow me to come back while I wait for my replacement. Remember I haven't received the official letters.

Ok I’ve been reading through these for about 2 hours.
#1 - is there a place that shows all of the abbreviations you guys use? Like tps and the others. Ap and gc are pretty straightforward both other than that I get lost a little.

#2 - my husband’s EAD/AP card came today so I’m reading through all of these because we do need to go back to japan sometime this year because gma has cancer.
Is the card alone enough? I see some people need multiple copies of their AP, is that for the ones that only have the AP without the combo card?

And maybe the most important
#3 - my husband entered on a 90 day ESTA. obviously that expired a lot time ago (took 7 months to get the EAD) so now I’m worried.
will they look at his passport as an overstay? (ESTA expired June 14 2017 - application submit date shows 6/12 for the 485,130,131,765)

#4 - Does everyone get pulled into the scary “I’m never going to see my husband again” room?
In LAX when we got here on the ESTA they kept him for like 2 hours. It was traumatizing and the reason we decided to stay and go for the GC I never want to do that again, I’d rather just go back to Japan and never come back to USA. Seriously. When the cbp agent brought him out I asked if I could hug him I was so relieved. (Ps do not hug cbp officers lol).
Is San Francisco any better? Because I’ll pay the extra $1000 per ticket to avoid that stuff. Lmao. Traumatized I tell you!

Just had the advanced parole denied to me and my kids because we traveled outside US while awaiting the approval of the I-131. Received the EAD cards with the employment approval but the travel denied.
I applied on June 17 and traveled outside ever month since there as my work needs me to travel outside. At the time I asked my attorneys an advice about this and they told me this was a normal procedure and as soon I have an L1 valid I would have no problems. Now, the USCIS changed they long time procedures without advice.

This forum has been so helpful for me, thought I would share my timeline and message of hope for folks:

My AP was approved at NBC/MSC even though I had traveled abroad while the I-131 was in process (on H1B status)

Marriage-based AOS, Filed I-765, I-131, I-485, I-130 concurrently.
Receipt at MSC: September 11
Fingerprint appointment: October 3
Filed SR online: November 27
Obtained combo card in the mail during the holiday break, sometime between December 22 and 29

Texas Service Center Still Denying Advance Parole Applications Based on Overseas Travel

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Texas Service Center (TSC) is still denying advance parole (AP) applications (form I-131) for applicants who travel abroad before their AP applications are approved. As previously reported, this is contrary to the longstanding practice by the USCIS to allow international travel while an I-131 is pending, as long as the applicant has some other means of being readmitted to the United States, such as an existing, unexpired AP or an H1B visa.

Background: NSC Revises Position after Murthy Takes Action
In August 2017, MurthyDotCom cautioned stakeholders about a recent trend in which the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) had begun denying AP applications for applicants who traveled while their applications were still pending. More details on this sudden and unannounced change in practice by the USCIS is available in the MurthyDotCom NewsBrief, USCIS Denying Advance Parole Applications Based on Overseas Travel (10.Aug.2017).

In a follow-up NewsBrief, Murthy Takes Action: NSC Agrees to Stop Denying Advance Parole Applications Based on Overseas Travel (25.Aug.2017), it was reported that the Nebraska Service Center (NSC) had agreed to cease this practice. It was further noted, however, that the Murthy Law Firm had yet to hear back from the other USCIS service centers on this matter.

TSC Still Denying I-131s Based on International Travel
Since then, attorneys at the Murthy Law Firm have seen several AP denials issued by the TSC based on applicants who were traveling internationally while their respective applications were pending. There have been similar reports from other members of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA). Given that the NSC has stopped this practice, it seems clear that this is not a national directive by the USCIS. It therefore is disconcerting to see the TSC continue to deny these cases.

Conclusion
The Murthy Law Firm, AILA, and other stakeholders continue to pressure the TSC to cease their denials of these AP applications. In the meantime, however, AP applicants are cautioned against international travel while their AP applications are pending, especially in cases filed with the TSC.
