My name was updated
Fiance's AP case received on January 3.
Today, it says:

On May 10, 2017, we updated your name for your Form I-131, Application For USCIS Travel Document, Receipt Number LINxxxxxxxxx. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

What does it mean that his name was updated? Did they make a decision on his case?

Approved advance parole
I just posted a couple of weeks ago
My applicationw as send to the alaska immigration office
Application send :march 15
Application receive: 3/20
Application approved and receive in mail: may9th
Travel dates :july 24-sept 7

I am in shock, partly because i thought i would have to submit more evidence. I send only a couple of letters from the doctor and medicine recipts. I thought it would take longer, but now that i finally have the approval, i am scare to go lol. But i have been following this site, and i have read all your experiences and i know for sure that i would regret missing on this opportunity, especially because i will finally be able to visit my family.

I hope everything goes well. This is going to be my first time flying and i don't know what i should take, how should i buy my tickets and all that (my family lives in Acapulco), i will have to start doing my search.

If any of you have come in through the Houston airport, please comment below your experiences. I am not sure if i should land here or if i should take a route to California instead. Shpuld i take mexican money or they accept dollars?

EAD, I-131 & I-485
Hi all, I've been reading this forum for awhile now. It really helps me in a lot of ways during the application process. Below are my timeline;
Submitted all application on 02/22/17
USCIS received case on 02/27/17
Biometric fees received on 03/02/17 and biometric taken on 03/31/17
No feedback until today, I follow up online through myUSCIS. The last updated status was on 03/22/17. No changes at all.

I read a few of applicants mentioned that their status changed from case received to new card processing etc, is it on the USCIS page? or they will email or text you on that?
You see, my father just passed away. :( and I need to go back before 05/24 for his funeral prayers and also to be with my mom for a bit. I sent a letter together with my I-131 application stating the urgency as well. I'm from Malaysia, my journey back needs a day at least so I need to plan ahead of time too. I'm devastated and the waiting part is not helping.

Another question, I read that with the AP, when coming back into the States, the immigration officer will ask for docs, such as, AP copies, passport and US license? What if I don't have US license yet?

Should I contact USCIS to check on the status?

Hope to hear from anyone. Thank you so much in advance.
Good luck for those who are applying as well.

Advance Parole
Hi everyone, I want to share my story to hopefully give someone the courage to apply. I applied on 2/13 and was approved 4/28. I thought a lot about applying like everyone else not only because of timing and the elections but because i had a lot of medical issues that were going on in 2016 that i wanted to make sure were controlled before taking such a big step. I applied for Humanitarian Reasons, my grandmother is very ill and 82. I sent over a doctor's note, supporting medical records, a letter from me, a letter from her caregiver in mexico and all of my medical records as to why i had chosen to go now and see her since her condition had been going on since the second half of last year. I patiently waited since i had requested to go out 5/5 and nothing had happened. As time went on i thought it was going to be approved afterwards. My grandmother's birthday was 5/6 and i was really hoping to be there for it but God chose another time. My letter finally came on 5/5 but i couldn't go that weekend due to the flight and work being requested off and then cancelled. I cannot believe that after 18 years i am finally going back to see her, i left when i was 8 years old and now i get to go back and tell her i am pregnant i am 3 months and have been waiting to tell her in person and share this wonderful joy with her. I am beyond excited and feel extremely blessed. God is great, I believe he is control and everything will work out fine it just takes time. I am leaving this Thursday and coming back Sunday. I work in healthcare and couldn't take a lot of time off. I will forever be grateful for this opportunity and for this wonderful country that allows you to flourish even if it is in steps and little by little we should all be thankful to be here. If anyone is double thinking it and has a reason to apply i would say go for it.

Question regarding Advance Parole
I want to apply for AP to be able to go see my grandparents who are very ill. I have been asking my uncles and aunts who live with my grandparents for hospital documents are doctor notes regarding my grandparents health but because this is not important to them they are not getting them to me in a timely manner. What kinds of documents do I need to provide to be able to travel to see my grandparents.
What have some of you provided as proof for humanitarian reasons?

AP DACA
Hello everyone.
I wanted to share my experience with you all and although i am a little late i know my experience will help many of you. Thank you everyone who shared their experience on this site. It was very helpful and gave me the courage to travel outside the U.S. (sorry this will take long so stay with me) thank you.
I applied for AP on June of 2016, to go see my grandfather in Guadalajara who was very sick. My AP was approved on march 10, 2017, almost a year of waiting. My grandfather ended up passing away in December 2016 so I never got to see him. The reason why It took so long was because the person who helped me with the application sent it out to the wrong office, An officer called me a week after receiving my application asking if I lived here or in Mexico, I replied "here, she stated that the person who helped with the application checked the box that I lived outside of the US. (So make sure to go over you paperwork before submitting it) The officer then sent it to the correct office. I can't remember how long after that, I received a letter asked me for my mothers and grandfathers translated birth certificate. Which I did submit, but I guess the translation was so horrible that they weren't able to understand them, they had been translated word by word. Now for those of you who are from Mexico know that the birth certificates from back than looked more like a whole summary with a bunch of people's names. Well you can just imagine what that looked like when she translated it lol. So anyway I got that fixed.

So March 10, 2017 I got approved. I had lost hope since it took way too long!! But Right after I got approved I went to see my lawyer. I was afraid to travel because of the the whole trump thing plus the AP approval clearly states that it is not 100% that they will let you back in. That was scary I have two kids so that was my biggest worry.
My lawyer advised me not to leave for long she said that the best thing to do was to go on the weekend and for one day only. Her reason being was that if trump decided to change anything it will most likely be during the week.
She said "if you go and stay out for long and things change while you are out there then they will Denied your re- entry" She said I should meet up with my family in TJ instead. So that was what I did.
My husband and I drove to TJ on March 18, I spent the whole day with my family. It was great but the whole time I was very nerves. On the way back we crossed the border the officer asked us for our passports, I handed him my Mexican passport along with my AP, he looked at it and asked where we were going went back inside and entered some information then asked us to go to secondary inspection, there I was told to walk in the office and hand them my paperwork so I did. My whole body was shaking, I was so nervous. I walked in, there was only one officer there she looked kinda mean so I was scared lol. I handed her my paperwork and then asked her where the restrooms were. My name was called by another officer (thank god!) as soon as I walked in from the restroom. She asked me for my work permit. My work permit and my AP had two different last names. She was more concerned on why I took so long to change my last name with USCIS I explained to that right after I got married my DACA was approved and I did try changing the last name but I had to pay the fee again so I decided to wait until it was time for my renewal. So she asked me for my marriage certificate, gave her that. Just waited about 10min while she entered all the information and that was all she stamped my AP but not my passport, she said it did not need to be stamped and I was on my way back!! Omg I was so happy it was such an amazing moment!! I couldn't believe it. Although I didn't get a chance to see my grandfather. I thank god for this.
EVERYONE DONT LOSE HOPE, GOD IS GREAT and TAKE THE RISK IT IS SO WORTH IT.
One more things guys. I did go back to my lawyer and applied for adjustment of status. If you want my experience on that leave me a comment. This post is already too long! Thank you everyone for the courage!!

Flying date range
Hi,
My parents finally approval letters saying that their I131 got approved. The approval notice says AP is valid for 1 year (same as work authorization) 5/2017-4/2018. I read here that AP itself may have flying dates listed (for example, May 21-July31, 2017). Is this something that USCIS lists on the AP itself? The requested dates that we put on the application have passed already. If you do travel on AP, how long can you stay abroad? Thank you, here is our time line if anybody cared:
1/17/2017-USCIS accepted I131.130. 485.etc
99 days after raised SR re work authorization
5/5/17-cards mailed
