H1B, H4 Visa

Not sure what this means, but all the people in line with me got this 221(g) yellow paper at Mumbai Consulate.
Most of us where there for Visa Renewal (H1). Is this something new they have started ?

Some friends mentioned about this like they had it in their checklist of documents while going for VISA interview.

I have attaned the visa interview on Nov 27th in Delhi, VO issued 221g (Green form), saying they need additional information, and asked me to drop all the documents mentioned in the form in Window 5.
at that time some of the documents mentioned in the form was not available with me,i inquired with the officer sitting in Window 5 about this,he suggested me to drop all the available documents mentioned in the form except passport, we will contact you through mail, i didt get any mail till now, am yet to submit the remaining documents still,

shall i go and submit the documents are they will contact me,
please let me know how to track the status....

 I Applied for H1b visa and had interview on September 2007.During that interview the visa officer asked to produce further additional documents - US federal Tax Returns of the employer which I did.they kept all my H1b papers with them and returned my passport snd educational documents......

On 4th October 2007 I received a post letter (221g) requesting for documents-
W-2s forms for US Employer for past 3 years. After receiving those documents from my employer I posted through ‘Secure Mail Services’ on 9th of October 2007.

Untill now i haven't got reply from them on Nov 20th i have called them...they adviced me to mail it to [email protected] regarding my case details which i did....but till now i haven't got any reply from them....

guys will they reply to my mail...
or anything else i can do....

Hi All,

I attended interview on 4th Dec,2007 at Chennai. They issued me 221g for the additional Corporate Docs.

On 10th Dec, I submitted all the required at VFS Hyderabad.

On 13th Dec, I got the courier from Consulate. When I opened it I saw my passport was returned back with one more 221g.

The second 221g mentions the AAP (Additional Administrative Processing). The consulate will contact me once the processing is done.

I don’t know how long will this process time go.

Anybody with the same experience or somebody who can help and suggest me is most appreciable.

Will look forward for the reply/ call.

Regarding the Hotel, Here is my recommendation:

This hotel is nearby to the US Consulate and in walk able distance. However, I recommend taking an Auto to Consulate, which comes for Rs. 30

Reserve your room as soon as possible because the people who come to Consulate always occupy this hotel. This is not a hi-fi hotel but suits the needs. Hotels look a bit OLD. Hotel has vegetarian restaurant and room service. Room service is bit costly a tea comes for Rs.18! Has Internet and travel agent facilities just opposite to the hotel.

I took a single A/C room, which has 2 beds and quite enough for 2 people. The tariff is Rs.1150 + Rs. 143.75 per day!

First i thank the site administration and everyone who posted their valuable experiences which are very useful to us.

Here i am posting my detailed experience.

I work in a small company in Pune,but native of Andhra Pradesh.

Initially i submitted my application packet to attend the interview in the first week of SEP, but could not attend it due to personal problems.

After few months i booked my appointment for Dec 20th at 10AM and submitted the application packet.

On 19th Dec i started from pune and reached Sion in Mumbai at 10:20 AM.

From there i took a taxi(Rs.170) to Hotel Royal Castle at Gowalia tank near to the consulate at 11:40 AM.

I occupied a room (Rs.1800+10% tax)a bit expensive there and just walked towards the Consulate in the evening.

I SUGGEST EVERYONE TO RESERVE THEIR HOTEL ROOM IN ADVANCE AS THEY SAID THAT ROOMS WILL NOT BE VACANT IN DECEMBER & JANUARY.

On the morning of 20th i vacated the room at 9:15 AM and took a taxi(Rs.60) to VFS office with my baggage at 9:30 AM.

As i purchased the VFS Stars and Stripes Lounge tocken(Rs.200),i deposited my luggage and mobile in the Locker which is free of cost.

I SUGGEST EVERYONE TO PURCHASE THE VFS STARS AND STRIPES LOUNGE COUPEN AS YOU CAN DEPOSIT YOUR BAGGAGE THERE INSTEAD OF PAYING RENT FOR YOUR HOTEL ROOM.

I entered the Lounge at 9:45 AM and sat for 2 minutes,then a VFS guy came and announced for all the applicants left for 10 AM batch.He also said that those who did'nt had their Sandwich and Coffee can have them after returning also.

After getting into the VFS van, we reached the consulate at 9:50 AM.A VFS guy came into the van and asked us to keep our Passport,Appointment letter and I-797 readily ,and stand in the queue to get into Consulate.

I am allowed into Consulate at 10 AM after security check (we have to remove belt and watch here),with a wooden stick which has to be returned while leaving the consulate.

In the Consulate a VFS lady handed me the application packets(both that i submitted) and I-797 folded vertically and placed in the passport. She throwed the appointment letter into Dust-bin and stapled a part of PINK tocken to passport and handed the other half to me.

I was asked to goto counter 1 for finger prints. Here a VFS lady Collected the passport with the application packets and I-797 init while i am in queue.

HERE YOU HAVE TO FIRST PLACE ALL THE 4 FINGERS OF THE LEFT HAND,4 FINGERS OF RIGHT HAND AND THEN BOTH THE THUMBS FOR FINGER PRINTING.

I was a bit worried as in the left top corner of my first application packet the REJECTED section is rounded and signed at the right top of DS-156.

NO NEED TO WORRY IT IS CONSIDERED AS REJECTED IF YOU DO'NT ATTEND THE INTERVIEW.

While waiting for my tocken number to be called i noticed a thin lady with white hair at Counter 7.
When this lady announces the tocken numbers nobody can hear her.
After some time another guy started to announce for her.
I felt that the guys who go to that counter will suffer as they cannot hear what she is asking and
so thought that i should not get counter 7.

At 11 AM my tocken number was called at counter 7.

Then i got a bit tensed standing in queue.

I entered into the cabin and wished good morning,she repeated the same (I WAS RELIEVED AS I CAN CLEARLY HEAR HER VOICE)and asked the following questions.

Why are you going to US?
What is Your designation in the US company?
(SHE TYPED SOME THING IN THE PC)
What is your role?
What is your qualification?
When you completed your Degree?
What are you doing since then?

WHILE ANSWEREING THIS QUESTION I NOTICED HER ROUNDING "ISSUED" SECTION AND SIGNING.

Then she asked me the last question returning my I-797.

How you got this offer?

She then said YOU WILL GET THE PASSPORT IN 2 DAYS.
THANK YOU.

I said Thank you and came out of the Cabin collecting my I-797.

That's it she did'nt even asked a single document.

After making a call to my Home from the telephone booth in the right side of the consulate,i sat in the VFS van and returned to the Lounge at 11:45AM.

There i had my Sandwich & Coffee and waited there watching TV till 2:40 PM.

I came out and stood in queue for collecting my passport from 3 PM.

At 4 PM the bags containing passports arrived.

The security allowed us into the VFS office at 5:15 PM with a tocken in hand after allowing the Immigration guys at 5 PM.

I collected my Passport at 5:30 PM and came out of VFS office.

HERE WE HAVE TO SUBMIT A PHOTO-COPY OF THE PINK VOUCHER SIGNED ON IT ALONG WITH THE ORIGINAL.

Then i collected my baggage from the Locker and took a Taxi(Rs.200) to the Domestic Airport.

This is my complete experience & sorry for any typo's.

My Wife has an appointment for H4 on 28th.I am taking her to Chennai from bangalore on 27th. Can anyone please give me the Location of the Chennai Consulate for the Interview and any decent hotel (not hi-fi) around that place.

I attended interview in Aug & got 221g green form for clients papers from the employer. I submitted those papers in Oct. Since then i waiting, there is no response from embassy. When ever i asked the staus they said case is under processing. Now its around 4 months i am waiting...Can you pls help ? what should i do?

My case is like a mystery...

I have attended my visa on 14th Dec in Mumbai, literally fought for 3 hours for visa , however i was still issued a white form, saying they will contact me once processing of my case is complete.

I am working for a telecom comp. thru a consultancy in mumbai.

I had a total of 3 rounds of interview
It went this way..

1st session: American VO

VO: HI
Me : hello, good mornin..

VO: So, since how long have you been staying in mumbai?
Me: past 7 months

VO: do, u have ur Mumbai driving license?
Me : Sorry , I have a licence which was issued in Hyd, also , in india we r issued only once and thts valid thru out india,

VO: Any other proofs?
Me: yes, i have a hdfc passbook with transactions of past 6 months, i have a lease agreement with my owner.

VO: can i c your payslips ?
Me : put payslips for the past 6 months in front of him incldg my offer letter.

He cheked them for few mins and asked me to wait, took those payslips and hdfc passbook and went inside and came after 5 mins,.

VO: There are only transactions of past 6 months , can i c the previous months ??

Me: This is my salary acc. and first pay was credited after a month i joined , so there r no transactions for the month i hav joined.

VO: Can you please wait, we shall call you back..
Me: I will wait in the lounge?

VO: yes
Me: Ok, thx

waited for 1:20mins and finally my name was called.

2nd session: Indian VO 1

IVO: Hi,
ME: hello

IVO: So, tell me your address?
Me : told

IVO: how do u go to ur office?
Me: told tht i wil catch a train at x stn.

IVO: wats the next station of x?
Me : told

IVO: wats the next stn.?
ME: told.

IVO: wats the next?
ME: told.

IVO: wats the next?
ME: told.
IVO: good.

IVO: how much is ur sal?
ME: told

IVO: ok, can u pls wait outside, we shall call u bak,
ME: OK
he came after some 15 mins

IVO: r u realy working?
ME : (SHOCKED)yes ofcourse Iam

IVO: please make sure u answer the truth, or else u might never get a chance to enter into the US and also this might lead to legal cases.. and end ur career..
Me: Y shud i lie? and more over y shud i stay in mumbai if im not working here. You can chek all the proofs tht i have shown u.

IVO: think again,, answer the truth, u mite loose a chance this time but mite still have a chance to reapply..or u will have to face sever consequences.
ME: wats happenin? Why shud i lie.. u can take it granted I AM WORKING HERE FOR XYZ COMP THRU AAA consultancy FOR THE PAST 7 MONTHS. and theres nothing to think again, U CAN TAKE THIS FOR GRANTED.

IVO: ok, can u pls wait outside .
Me: K


Now the final session 3 : IVO senior officer.

IVO : DO U THINK WE R FOOLS SITTING HERE?
ME: sir, wat r u saying i don understand , wats happenin?

IVO: thts wat im asking you, wats happenin? We have called your consltancy thrice and got no response. Tell us the truth , ru really working??
Me: I am unable to know y u got such a response but its true tht im working for XYZ thru this consultancy, if u want u can send someone with me physically and i will prove myself. U can as wel call my manager at XYZ comp and confirm.

IVO: wat do u do at XYZ comp?
ME: iam a sys admin there

IVO: wat do u do as a sys admin?
ME : blah blah

(He asked several tech ? as well, I was amazed. I answered thm) however, he took the white form by now and first opted 'other' and was bout to write something under this option)

IVO: Thn y is there no resonse frm this number?(showing DS form)
Me: sir , my comp has other numbers as well, pls try callin on any of these (me showing the offer letter)

IVO: this number on DS form is diff thn the once on ur offer letter,
Me : sir , tht mite b a typo , can u pls try callin on any of these ?
(by this time he unchekced the 'others' and reselected the first option in 221g)

IVO: the whole number cant be a typo..

Me : but still can u plz retry these numbers?
IVO: sorry, we have many other applicants wating for the interview.
You may leave now , we shall notify you later.


Then i left bein helpless..

I came out and my frnd told me i got call on my mobile frm my consultancy but he did not pik up. I called my employer and they said tht they got some calls enquiring bout me but the person on other side did not reveal his identity , so my consultancy people did not respond properly.. (This was the reason why VO was torturing me..)

Now ,, Im in a dillemaa.. wat to do? I am 100% genuine in all ways except tht my employer did not respond properly, which caused suspision in VO mind. Now , can some one guide me wat wud b the best course of action..???
