How long is the queue at chennai consulate
Reposting again to get some info atleast this time. Can anyone who has attended in march can update me, pls.?

I am having my appointment in the last week of march at 10 AM.

Typically how long will be the queue and wait time till we reach the VO (a near guess). I want this info as my wife is in her initial stages of pregnancy (will 1~ 1.5 months).
I would like to know will it be a long standing queue or most of the waiting time will be sitting time.

I don't want to inform she is pregnant, although I plan to take her after delivery.
Can some one give me the info.

Have been looking at this site for some time and thanks to all who posted their experiences about the current H1-B scenario. Can you people suggest some good companies who are in a situation to provide all literature requested by the consulate and whose documentation really convinced the VO to issue visa for the candidate? If this is not the right place to post this query, please ignore.

Got H1B after 221 (g)
First of all my thanks to those people who shared their exprience. This forum was really helpful and I was following this about last three months.
I appeared for the H1B interview on January in Chennai consulate.
Here is my exprience.

VO:How are you sir?.
me: I am fine sir, How are you?.
VO: expressed little smile and said he is fine. Can I gave the folder?
me: sure sir.
Vo: took the folder and started typing something in the computer.Which is the company you are working for?
me: Told my current employer name and location.
VO: How long you have working ?
me: x years and y months
VO: Why do you want to go to US?
me: sir, I want to gain the onsite exprience and get the global exposure.
VO: fine. you travelled once earliar so might have got those things already?
me: sir, that was just a few weeks trip I couldn't interact with the customers much.
VO: When you are planning to get married ?
me: after 2-2.5 years
VO: Do you have your employer's photo ?
me: I gave that to him. He saw that for few seconds and returned to me.
VO: which is the project you are going to work ?.
me: Sir, I am going to work in a internal product called xxx.
VO: do you have market analysis?
me: Yes sir, I gave the documents to him.
VO: read the document for few mins and searched something in the web.Do you know company website ?
me: Yes sir, I gave the URL.
VO: Took a blue form and marked the point indicating that market analysis document is required. Also he told me to drop it VFS Box, n need to come again
me: Sir, I have this document already.
VO: I am not satisfied with that.

I asked the same from my employer, they send me those documents after a month.
I reappeared again in februry last week.
This time it ways very crowed it took almost more than 5 hours.

VO:Took my folder and started typing something in his computer. After few minutes he asked me to you have the requested document?.
me: Yes sir, I gave the documents to him.
VO: He was just going through that. After a few seconds, he said your visa is approved.
me: thank you sir.

Successful H1B Stamping at Chennai Consulate
I had my visa interview yesterday i.e 6 March at 1:15pm. Well after the intial rounds etc i reached in the main building and after waiting for around 4 hours my turn came (around 5pm).Two people were issued 221G in front of me. Now before starting let me give a general backgound about me.
Education - Non IT background.
Experience - Around 5 years in IT and I have been working in the current company for more than 3 years.
So I am sure at this point of time that my educational background is going to be the main problem.
Here is how the interview went.

VO: Good afternoon. How are u doing?
Me: I am doing good. How are u doing?
VO: Good.
Passed the folder.
He started looking in my PP. I had 2 US entries before for B1 from my current company. He was checking something on his computer and looking at my previous US visas. No questions asked till now.
VO: What are u going to work on?
ME: I am going to work on ZZZ.
VO: Can you explain that to me?
Me: Just started explaining but he interrupted me.
VO: Do u have any docs which mentions the description.
Me: Yes I have.
I handed him the letter from my employer which mentions about the product and my roles and responsibility in that.
Vo: Do u have the company's corporate Tax returns.
Me: yes.
Handed over to him.
He again satrted looking in his computer. After two mins, he handed the docs back to me and kept the PP and told me to pay the fees. That was it. I thanked him and proceeded to pay the fee. He didnt even look at my certificates.
So people out there with Non IT background, please don get disheartened.

I am still awaiting the PP.
