The following documents are required for foreigner registration in India:
- Online registration through eFRRO is mandatory, except in case of exigency or emergency.
If you need to apply in person, you can use the Application form.
- Registration Fee: Rs. 100.
- Original valid passport and visa.
- Four passport size photographs.
- Three photocopies of the following passport pages:
- The photo page of the passport;
- The page displaying validity of the passport;
- The page displaying the Indian visa and arrival stamp
- Three copies of the undertaking letter, as per the sample below, from Indian host/sponsor/guarantor along with their valid ID document such as passport, PAN card, Aadhar card, election card, official identity card, etc.
- Proof of residence. Three copies of electricity bill or telephone bill or municipal bill or certificate of municipal authority, or leave & license agreement of any other valid proof of residence. In case of registration on tourist visa, submission of a letter from the hotel or payment receipt is sufficient.
- Employment Visa: Three copies of the terms and conditions of the contract of assignment, including salary, designation, employment length, etc.
- Employment or Business Visa:
- Three copies of PAN card or application for PAN card.
- Forwarding letter of the company/firm/business undertaking, duly signed by the authorized signatory that mentions the name, designation, phone number, and mobile number.
- Three copies of PAN card or application for PAN card.
- Student Visa: Three copies of a bonafide certificate from school, college, or academic institute for the academic year mentioning relevant details including admission validity and nationality of the foreign student.
- Medical Visa:
- A letter from a reputed and recognized hospital where the treatment is being taken along with supporting medical documents/ diagnostic test reports with a medical certificate about a tentative period of treatment.
- If the applicant is admitted to the hospital, a medical certificate bearing photo of the applicant attested and certified by the doctor.
- A letter from a reputed and recognized hospital where the treatment is being taken along with supporting medical documents/ diagnostic test reports with a medical certificate about a tentative period of treatment.
- Copy of the marriage certificate for those seeking an extension of stay as a spouse of an Indian National.
- Accreditation certificate from the Press Information Bureau for those on a journalist visa.
