My status adjustment supposed to be based on marriage. I had my interview on februar 28 2012!!! I love my wife and i had every paper filled out like it supposed to be, and all the fees are payed. Everything is correct but uscis does not process my case for some reason... I should had get a decision back in May or August.....but instead of a decision they told me during an infopass on my case that I should wait an aditional 6 months due to background checks. Later I got an email on August 10th, that from now on I should wait for 6 months. Since that I called the immigration service uscis and asked them why does my case takes so long, all i wish is a decision. But instead of honest answer they tell me all the time something else. First they told me it takes so long because an extended background check. Than they told me it takes so long because of stormy weather hurrican Sandy. I asked them how comes that some people get their stuff done way faster than me....why does my background check takes so long? And why does their background check goes way faster? Their answer was every time something different. It is like they have different answer possibilities to avoid an honest answer. I don't think that is fair and I don't call this as "service". And the worst part is that you can't just walk in to uscis (like in germany) and talk with someone about your case and ask them whats going on here? No, you need an appointment and if you don't have one, they don't even let you in to the building.....that is so wrong. How is that legal? After they get your money they don't care about you anymore. The immigration service is very disapointing and should be turned down, people don't do their job over there. And the politicans only talk about immigration service but don't do actions. If you go to Germany and apply for greencard, you can talk to a person over there. Anytime. There are no security officers in the door who not let you in. And they tell you what is missing or what you need to do. They are not se secretly like here. I am not saying that they should give green cars away now. But they should process cases and make decision! Or change the system but it does not work how it is!!!

Hi, this is the way they are working.
Just for nothing they hold my decision almost an year. I got interview on Aug 24,2011 and I got my GC on Sept 10,2012 after so many SR and info pass.
My son is a derivative, and they don't where is his file. My son suppose to get GC along with me (he is 10 yrs old) but his case is still pending.
I already opened 3 SR and one info pass, they said they are looking for his file.
Now you can imagine.

I know you are frustrated trust me I understand, but the reason you cannot just walk in is mainly for security.. This is a Federal Office and you seeking a greencard is not a right but a Priviledge. Now given that you have done infopass and all that with no response, it is time to contact your congressman, they can push USCIS you CANNOT. After congressman and still no action you are allowed to File a lawsuit for USCIS taking too long on your case what is called a WRIT of MANDAMUS, do your research, remember all these depend on three things
1)Country of Origin (Certain backgrounds take longer for countries with History of terrorism activity)
2) Eligibility for example what is your criminal history
3) Validity of your Marriage
I hope you have an EAD working helps get your mind off this crap,
