  • Should I report shoplift arrest (no charges) in Germany 11 years ago in my I-485?

    Hi there,

I'm very close to file I-485 and I'm in serious doubt should I report the incident I had 11 years ago when visiting Germany (I'm not a German citizen):
I've shoplifted a $80 worth sweatshirt, got caught at exit and taken to the mall security office. Police came, took me to the station, I've admitted the theft signing some papers, payed a fee (2 times what the sweatshirt was worth), and left the station a few hours after I was brought in. I was not given any documents at all.
I know, stupid of me, and I am not proud of it... but, what's done is done.

Should I report this arrest in my I-485? It will for sure delay the process, and I don't have any documents to show to USCIS officer at the interview.

I have not reported it when I applied for H1-B.

Thank you all for you reply.

You should be good without reporting it when applying for your AOS.

Even though am not a fan of what you did (honest mistake which can happen to anyone at a point in life), better be glad the incident did not happen within the US with cops involved, because there wasn't going to be any way around it.

      Good luck.
