GC Questions

Hi,

I am thinking about applying for GC and have few questions.
I am on H1B for last 3 years.

1] How long does it take to get a GC (approximate time)?
2] My wife is also in US on separate Visa and working for another employer.
When my employer files for my GC, will that be for me only OR it can be filed for my wife and me, both?
3] How long does it take to get a GC for my family members i.e my parents?

1] How long does it take to get a GC (approximate time)?
On which category you are applying for GC (EB1, EB2 or EB3)
EB1- You can file AOS immediately but it depends on category.
EB2 - Aprox wait time 8 to 10 Years (Current Priority date - 01SEP04)- if you are from India
EB3 - Aprox wait time 10 to 12 years (Current Priority date - 22NOV02) If you are from India

2] My wife is also in US on separate Visa and working for another employer.
You can add her as a spouse at the time of I-485 process

When my employer files for my GC, will that be for me only OR it can be filed for my wife and me, both?
Her Employer can file for her, and your can file yours. Once Labor is approved, your/her employer gonna file I-140. Once this approved you must wait according to the category. (Which ever priority date comes you/she can add either as spouse)

3] How long does it take to get a GC for my family members i.e my parents? Forget now. (if you are a citizen then it will be 1 to 2 years. on GC 5 to 10 Years)
