  • My pending I-485 is transfer to NRC (National record center)

After interview with the officer regarding pending I-485 my file was transfer to national record center. How is that possible? Upon making an infopass I came to learn that they (USCIS) were not sure as to why the file was transfer.

They advise me that they will retrieve the file from NRC to continue processing the case.

Q: My question is how long does it take? The reason I ask is because I was give no information on length it may take USCIS to retrieve from NRC.

Q: Will USCIS continue to renew my EAD card though the file is at NRC? I-485 is still pending when checking status at USCIS web site.

How does this impact my case?

    Please help.

    Thank you

At the moment my priority date is current. I started to inquire when I did not hear from USCIS. It's only been a month since priority became current.

How long it been after interview. is it a Emp based or family based..
It doesn't matter, still they can process your case and renew your EAD. Call USCIS and open a SR if your case is beyond the time they will open a SR.
One time I opened a SR and i got a letter stating that 'your file is in NRC and will call for your record and process your case and it will take 6-8 weeks'

Open SR, they will retrieve your file and you will get the out come.
    - for your question it may take 6- 8 Weeks. (The best process is open a SR you receive a letter where and what about your case and they give you time line. If you don't hear in that time period call again and they will open another SR and investigate why they didn't took an action on SR) Now a days USCIS try to sync the process, if your IO or the office where your file was made responsible to answer the question.
    - It will not impact your case.

      Family based.

Every time I call USCIS customer support I get bunch a idiots who are clueless.

The immigration officer at local office said USCIS will notify us when the case is retrieved from national record center. My attorney says it may take them couple of months to do so.

That is a long time, but I guess If USCIS renews my EAD then I have no problem.

Should I consider paying a visit to local congressman to speed things up?

      How long should I wait?

      And

WHY WAS MY file transfer to NATIONAL RECORD Center? Anyone with experience in such matter?

I am in similar situation now. Primary approved two months ago, dependent still pending. dependent file send to NRC without decision. I have raised service request, got reply from filed office they say they have requested file from NRC but no timeline provided. Anyone could you please share how long this would take based on your experience?
