Is it too late to apply for my work permit

Afternoon.

I am waiting for my I-485 to be processed and did no file for my work permit at the time. This is taking way to long, and I was wondering if It would be ok to put in for my work permit. I know it would take about 3 months, but I don't know what kind of time frame we're talking about with my greencard and we're 7 months in. would doing this throw my I-485 process into a tail spin, or under a bus?

You can apply for an EAD and Advance Parole. It will take approx 3 months indeed and will not hurt AOS.
