Immigration time line for adjustment of status thru marriage to a US citizen.
I entered legally with a b1/b2 tourist visa in 1988 so I was here illegally for 25 years. Got married on 12/2013
3/14/13 Paperwork was sent to USCIS in Chicago.
3/16/13 USCIS in Chicago received our paperwork.
3/18/13 they mailed our receipts
3/23/13 Checks made out to USCIS, cleared from bank account.
3/25/13 Received all 3 ( I-485, I-765, & I-130) receipts from USCIS.
3/30/13 Received biometrics appointment in the mail. For April 15th at 10:00am.
4/03/13 Went and did biometrics.
Early
4/23/13 Got interview notice in mail. Interview scheduled 05/22/13
Didn't get EAD before interview, we were kinda worried about that thinking it was a bad sign and at the interview the officer said that most people in recent time get the interview before the card, also the EAD card application is still under review as of 05/25/13 but everything else is approved WEIRD.
We live in San Francisco and hired the nicest best attorney money can get Randall Caudle , really get one! is such a peace of mind having someone that deals and knows all of the officers in the USCIS agency and knows your rights and the whole process, he right away told us we got a nice agent and the interview went really well less than 30 minutes, the day after the interview 05/24/13 we received texts and emails from uscis and Randall telling us that we had been approved, welcome letter and acceptance notice I-797 is on it's way also GC is on production, we can as soon as we receive the I-797
Notice of action granting me permanent residence take that to the social security office and apply for a number then go to the DMV and get a license you do not need to wait for the GC to start all the process,
I will post what happened at the SS office and the DMV as soon as I go there i hope this helps give you peace of mind just relax and be yourself at the interview they don't want to break up families oh BTW we do have a kid 11 years old and I have a 20 year old US born kid from another marriage, don't worry!, what will be will be live in the now and don't stress trough all the process is really not worth it
best of luck!
