  • A travel Document

I had my appoiment (adjustament status I-485) last 04 August 2005, but I have not recieved anything from the Inmigration Office yet.
How long I have to wait until they let me know about my status or my residence?
Could I apply for a travel document that let me go to my country for two weeks in december? How can I know?

If someone could help me... please....

    Many thanks,

    Lehyla

It takes anything between two weeks and two months to approve AOS. If they have to run FBI background checks on you, it will take longer. When you are approved, they will send you a letter. The green card will typically arrive in the mail about two weeks after.

If you don't want to wait for your green card to travel, you have to file form I-131, Application for Travel Document. It's commonly known as Advanced Parole. It's a document that allows you to leave and re-enter the United States if you are not a permanent resident yet. The application costs US$165.

You may find the form and instructions here: http://uscis.gov/graphics/formsfee/u...orms/i-131.htm
