Adjust status while in the US

Hello Friends I have two questions. 1) my mom is visiting me on 5 yrs multiple visa which is gonna expire in nov of next year and this is her second trip since she got the visa. I am US citizen I want to sponsor her for Greencard while she is here. Is that possible? If yes what's the procedure ? 2) similar situation for my friends mom but her visa expired last month but I-94 is valid till nov of 2013 she wants to sponsor her for Greencard also is the expired visa gonna be a problem? Please help us as soon as possible thank you.

What is 5 year multiple visa? Visitor Visa?
1)Anyways you may file for I-130, I-485 for her. There is good instruction here at this site. She will not be able to leave the country until she gets the GC.
2) should not be a problem for her. same as above.

The only problems I can foresee with this is the medical exam if they have illness.
