  • cell phone at USCIS field office?

I live in Hawaii and need to travel from one of the outer islands to Honolulu for my Biometrics appointment. I have to drive over an hour to the airport, fly, take a taxi from the airport to USCIS field office, then return home via the same method. Understandably, I would like to take my cell phone with me on my trip. However, I will be traveling alone and the USCIS office does not allow cell phones inside. I don't have any way to store my phone while I enter the field office for my Biometrics. I am doing the trip in one day so I don't even have a hotel room to store the phone while I go to USCIS.

Are there lockers at USCIS or will one of the officers be able to hold onto my personal belongings for me? I have tried calling USCIS but no one can give me any information besides that fact that cell phones are not allowed. There is no way to call my local field office directly. I don't want to miss my appointment or have my cell phone seized. Has anyone been to this field office or is able to advise me what to do?

I know it's been years but I'd like to know what you ended up doing with your cell during the appointment. Thank you!

I did biometrics last week, there must have been 8-10 people on their cell phones. Some in plain view of security by front desk.

I took my cellphone during my recent visit. No problems.
Just an opinion; Not legal advice.

In Atlanta the no phones policy was strictly enforced. They didn't seem to have lockers but I wonder if on special cases the security would hold on to them at their desk, but that is something only them would be able to tell

            Hi,

I would advise you to, turn- off your phone when you about to enter the building. If they ask you, explain very well your situation, Hope they will understand your case.
I know its difficult to travel without our cellphone with us, especially traveling alone and commuting alone.

You'll be fine and good luck!

This is not a legal advise. Just an idea.
