  • Timeline and question on post-interview processing time

    Hi everyone,
I've used this forum as a great resource over the last few months. As a favor to everyone in the community I will share our timeline below. Note a few of the dates are approximate, but it’s all pretty close.

2012-08 my wife (USC) and I (NZC) meet in the Philippines, we travel, get to know each other and commit
2012-12 we move in together in Australia
2013-01 I apply for and receive B1/B2 visa for US
2013-04 Her Australian visa runs out, we move on unsure of where to go, Canada probably…
2013-04 Canadian visas approved, her brother gets sick and we decide to do what we can to move to the US
2013-05-01 we get married in the Cook Islands
    2013-05-05 Arrive in the US
    2013-06-09 File I-130, I-485, I-765
    2013-06-14 Applications received.
    2013-07-07 Chicago Wedding celebration 
    2013-07-11 Biometrics
2013-06 changed address from Denver to Chicago
    2013-08-22 EAD arrives in Chicago
2013-08-31 received interview notice for interview in Denver (Oct 2) to our old address out there (thankfully her parents house)
2013-09 rescheduled interview for Chicago, received new interview date (Oct 22). Physical file is sent from local Denver office to local Chicago office.
2013-09-14 receive SSN in time for my new job
2013-10-22 Interview, Approved  no real problems, we waited for 45 minutes, then when the time came for the interview itself the guy barely asked any questions at all, we had photos, bills, bank statements etc, he wasn't very interested in looking at them. Apparently we put together a good package of information when we filed.

Now we are holding our breath waiting to hear when the green card arrives, we are planning on going back to New Zealand for Christmas to celebrate with my friends and family, we have almost 2 months before we leave but with the shutdown I am nervous that the GC won’t arrive and I will not be able to go.
It seems the I-131 processing time is 3 months so this does not help us (I think we will file anyway)

Does anyone have advice/experience to offer? How long does it take for the green card to arrive? I have seen mixed reports ranging from 2 weeks to 5 months.
