  • Green Card Application for Parents - Marriage Certificate

Hi All, I am planning to apply for Green Card for my parents. One of the application document requirements is Marriage Certificate of parents. My parents didn't have marriage certificate registered under Hindu Marriage Act (India). They last week got their Marriage registered under Hindu Marriage Act. However, the Marriage Certificate document has a stamp at the bottom which says "If the document is needed for use in foreign countries or for acceptance by the foreign missions situated in India authentication of the document by the designated authority viz. The Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India is necessary." Certificate authentication by Ministry of External Affairs is a long process. I am not sure if it will be at all necessary!! The certificate currently is authenticated by Hindu Marriage Registrar under Hindu Marriage Act. Please advice if the following document will be acceptable with I-485 application
