filed I 130, status initial review, can I file I 485 ?

I am permanent resident, and i filed I 130 for my husband. I filed in july and visa buletin current dat 08 aug 2013. My file status initial review. Can he file for I 485 ( adjustment of status ). ? Please help he is on f1 visa. It will be out in jan 2014

If his priority date is "clear," therefore "reachable," you can start the Adjustment of Status.

You don't normally get a "reachable" letter until after the I-130 is approved.

"...an immediately available visa number, if approved..." is the test for when your Adjustment of Status can proceed.

I would wait until the you have the approval Notice for the petition before investing in the medical exam and I-485 package.
