We got our interview first week next month but I never received my work permit..I hope this doesn't mean anything.

it's normal, some people don't get their EAD before interview , while some get it before the interview. and once your interview is approved the EAD is no longer valid cos the GC surpasses the EAD, good luck with your interview. mine was last week and I was approved my GC should be arriving soon.
