  • questions about filing I-485

I'm trying to get package ready to file without getting attorney. Would appreciate any help:

    1) I-693. Question about vaccination records. If I get a copy of my shot records from colledge in my home country, send it to translator, bring it to civil surgion, would he accept it? Does it have to be notarized? Can it be a copy or does it have to an original? I can't find any requirements on how it should look like.

    2) I-864. Affadavit of support.

I have a child who is american citizen, I filed taxes every year and claimed her as dependent. My husband has a child also who doesn't live with us, he doesn't claim him on the tax return and there is no court order for child support. My husband's income doesn't meet requirements, but he still files I-864. Am I the only immigrant he's sponsoring? Does he need to sponsor my child? Do we need to count kids determinanting household size? I would do 3 (1 for me as an immigrant, 1 for yourself - husband, 1 for dependent child), would that be correct?

Than we need a joint sponsor. What his household size would be? married, no dependents.

    questions about filing I-485

Hello there. As far as the i693. Yes just a copy of your vaccinations records handed to your doctor is enough. It doesn't have to be translated.

Now the i864. First let me ask this - was your child born here on American soil ? Or abroad ? If aboard than she needs to enter the country legally at a us port with proper inspection and than go through the entire green card process with you. As far as his other child as long as the child doesn't live with him than it's not counted as part of the house hold. Correct on the house hold size. You both can be the sponsors but he will always be the primary and you second. Even if he doesn't make quite $18500 he still has to be the primary sponsor and you are allowed to make up the difference. Pls do it yourself a lawyer is not needed as I did my wife's and child who was born in Mexico City. All together it took me 4 months from start to finish. Just read all the instructions and go through it with a fine tooth comb. Good luck !

      questions about filing I-485

Here is my story. So you can see if it works for you. Hello. I filed for my wife and son on August 29 2013. My wife is from Mexico City and my son was born there as well. September 6 th 2013 received all the texts of receipts from USCIS.

my wife did her biometrics on November 4 th 2013 in M***aukee Wi and we received her EAD along with travel parole on November 12 2013. The same with my son's travel parole.

AOS interview in M***aukee Wi USCIS on December 5 2013 for both and approval at the end of the interview.

Since my mortgage and utilities bills were already established before I got married I couldn't follow the typical submittal of documents of joint bank accounts- credit cards bills in both names or both names on leases or checking in both names or utilities or anything like that but I did send copies of all our dentist bills -- doctors bills. Medical Insurance statements. Letters from our family doctors for both of us along with my sons pedia doctor. Pictures of us since they came to the US. I even sent copies of the prescription bags that you get from walgreens because they show names dates and addresses. The more important message that I felt was important to the USCIS was showing a time line of names and dates and addresses along with the fact that I supported them 100%.

I also submitted all the tax info W-2s - payroll stubs etc etc etc.

When I sent all the forms and supporting evidence in a shoe box it weighed 3.5 lbs. I filled and filed all the paper work myself. Error free but I had gone over my finished petitions 5 times with a fine tooth comb before I sent them. No attorney or immigration business service.

Sure I can share a little. But hopefully you filled your petitions all correctly and the only reason I say that is cuz every form has it unique instructions on how to answer a question even if it doesn't apply to you. Like N/A or leave it blank stuff like that. Computer scanning does the petitions and uploads the answers but if certain areas are left out it may mark it incomplete
