lost passports

I have interview in April for greencard from my mother sponsoring me and have misplaced my passport. I had it for the biometric appmt back in November. I am a uk citizen. I have copies of the passport And I have my EAD. How big a problem is it? I am researching getting replacement passport but it appears would my arrive in time. Any idea what will happen please ?
