I decided to create an account just so I could share my story with whoever may choose to read it. I met my wife on youtube over 2 years ago. She was in America and I was in Ireland. We quickly fell in love and she came over to see me 3 times in a year, staying months at a time. It was real love. Last December we found out she was pregnant, and although we were completely shocked at first,we grew to accept it and plan for the future. I went over to America for the first time in August to be with her. She gave birth 20 days later. At this stage we decided to get married so I could stay. After our marriage we started filling out all the paperwork. We couldn't afford a lawyer so we did it all ourselves. It was horrible. Checking and double checking and then checking some more. We finally sent the files away 1 week before I was due to leave.
2 months later in December we got a letter saying they wanted me to go get my fingerprints done. After that we got another letter telling me to go get a medical and sent them in the results.
Another month passed and we finally got a letter for my interview for the 3rd April. It was time to get nervous. A lot of worrying and a lot of stress followed as we tried to get all our documents ready. Eventually we drove to Memphis for the interview. It was time.
So many horror stories I have read about this part, so nothing could have surprised me more than the very first words out of the interviewers mouth been "now after you get your greencard"
I couldn't believe it. Here we were after going through everything, making sure we knew all the questions that were gonna be asked about our lives and this was the first thing she said. She then asked about our baby, asked about my middle name, if I was a terrorist and that was it. The whole interview lasted 10 minutes. And I got my greencard
So my advice is try not and worry yourself too much, don't believe all the horror stories, if your life, love and marriage is real then you will be ok
