Registering a business while waiting on I-485 GC / I-765 EAD

Hi

I've just submitted my I-485, I-765 and I-131. I'm on my K-1 visa and have just gotten married.

I was wondering whether it's ok to start your own business while waiting for the GC/EAD approvals? Just want to clarify because it seems you need EAD for employment (working for others) but wanted to find out whether it's also needed to actually run your own business.
