  • Damaged passport and lack of organizations

    Hi,
So I'm all ready to send in my AOS package once I fill out my I-485. I'm British, have a student visa that lasts until July 2015, and have been married to my wife (American citizen) since last November. We are in a hurry because of recent financial concerns, we want me to be able to start working as soon as possible (I know I know, we should've done all this last November, it just doesn't seem so pressing).

My passport unfortunately got put through the washer - and all the information is still readable, it just haggard and messed up. Will this be important when I go in to the interview? Do you guys think this could negatively affect me - ie, they turn me away? I'm very concerned about this, but getting a new passport will take months.

Secondly, I've been a college student the last few years - I haven't really been apart of any organizations. I never joined any of the campus clubs or anything, and I feel like that looks suspicious on my application, on the spot where you're supposed to list your organizations. Any advice? I know that they're pretty much just asking if you're part of any political parties, but everything about this process gives me heart palpitations, lol.

Thanks to anyone with answers for me! I appreciate it.

I went to the US consulate in England for my Interview, my passport had been through the wash and was a little messed up. I had my interview for the K1, they approved me but asked me to get a new passport before they would issue the visa. It depends how bad it is
