I am confused about several things... maybe someone can help me sort some of them out.
I entered the US originally back in 1994 as a J-2, my stepdad was a college grad student finishing his PHD... I have lived in the states ever sense, legally. The last time I entered the US I entered as an H4, this was in Jan. 2004. I was studying at umass amherst and my stepdad was working for umass dartmouth.
this year i turned 21, and my stepdad left the country. So I am assuming my status is illegal right now even though my visa H4 doenst expire till 2006... is that correct?
also, i married a us citizen, my girlfreind of 5 years a year ago, and now i want to file for my residency... here are my questions...
1) do i need to waive the foregin residency requirement becuase i entered in 1994 as a j2?
2) am i illegal, and if so, what extra steps do i need to take to file for my adjustment besides the regular steps...
