If, while in the process of filing an I-485, I leave the USA by road and go to Canada, will I be:
(a) stopped at the Canadian border leaving the USA and entering Canada and refused admittance to Canada and/or
(B) stopped coming back to the USA and not be let back in.
If they don't let me in, as I'm a UK citizen will they send me back to the UK or just refuse to let me into the USA, thereby stranding me in Canada?
Basically, to put it succinctly, I'm a UK citizen, who has been in the USA for 8 years, married to s US citizen, working on a Permanent Residency which for a few reasons was screwed up and we had to refile it a second time. Meanwhile my wife and I have become estranged and the marriage is falling apart. I want to put in for divorce and basically travel around Canada for about a month, also visiting a close friend and us both seeing if our friendship could be more. If it doesn't work out, I want to either move back to the UK or back to the USA. ?
If I decide to fly out and move to the UK there shouldn't be any issues as I still have a valid UK passport, however if I came back to the USA (or tried to) would they stop me as I broke the rules concerning 'advance parole' and left the country while filing for PR.?
Also as a last question, if I took a bunch of belongings over the border, would I get stopped as being suspicious even If its general stuff that I was 'camping' with on my trip?
