Birth Certificate for Parent's I-485

I am USA Citizen by Naturalization. I would like to apply for my mom's Green card. My mom is Indian passport holder. It seems I need birth certificate for my mom for I-485. I don't have her birth certificate. Do I really need birth certificate ? What options do I have ?

In similar note, Indian passports have all information that a birth certificate contains such as Name, Place of birth, Date of birth, Parent's name. So do we really need a separate Birth certificate ?

Additionally, your birth certificate listing her as your mother is required.
