  • Need help! about minus income I864

I am B2 visa, married with US citizen guy. I want to apply for green card but when I saw his income tax return (1040)
his gross income (-13,015) and adjust gross income is (-5,972) what that mean? he can still sponsor me?
If I have joint sponsor my husband still want to fill I864?
thank you so much for any help.

A minus-income amount for "total income" on a U.S. tax return is not unusual, and there may be very good business reasons for such a final income status (exemption for foreign income, carryover business loss, business loss combined with positive income, etc.).

Your husband will have to report his negative "total income" amount on the I-864, but he must present other evidence of ongoing positive cash flow, and/or a joint sponsor.

A co-sponsor (or joint sponsor) must provide a completed I-864, proof of U.S. citizenship or Permanent Resident status, employment verification letter (or proof of self-employment), W2 or 1099 forms for income source.
