Hi I am new to this forum and am very confused about changing status, so I hope you can help!
I am currently in the US on an E3 visa, and am in the process of getting my green card through the diversity visa lottery 2015. So far I have submitted my DS-260 online
From the current visa bulletin I can see my visa number will be ready in November.
Questions:
1) The instruction for Form !-485, part 10.A. Evidence of Eligibility - Based on an immigrant petition, says
"Attach a copy of the approval notice for an immigrant petition that makes a visa number immediately available to you, or submit a complete relative, special immigrant juvenile, or special immigrant military petition that, if approved, will make a visa number immediately available to you."
What is this approval notice? All I have received so far is an email acknowledging that I intend to change status from my DS-260 and explaining what happens next and when to file (not much help).
2) Along with the email, I received a doc called DV Fee Paid Receipt, saying I have to send a $330 check and stamped self address envelope to US Dept of State. This goes to a different address to the I-485. Do I send it before a visa number is available (November) or do I send it in advance so they know I will be adjusting status?
Thank you for you help, this is all so confusing!
