How much time to get marriage based green card?

Hi All, I am from India and I am in relationship with my American girl friend. I have a B1/B2 visa and I am coming to USA frequently from year 2012. This year in June when I was on my business trip then I met my girl friend in the same office in USA and we started dating each other. And then I went back to India. We stayed in touch by calling, text and emails. And I came back again in the month of September to specially meet her and stayed with her for 10 days. And now in October also I am again in USA to meet her but now we both are thinking to marry as both can't stay away from each other. So my question is will it be possible for me to apply for a green card after marrying her while my stay in USA?

And if yes, then how much time will it take to get the green card? And how will I get the work authorization and in how much time I can start my work in states?

or do you think I should go back to India after marrying her in States and will apply for all visa formalities from there?

Kindly suggest me the better process so I can follow the same.

If you marry and adjust status in the States, assuming she is a U.S. citizen, it will take about 6 months to get the Green Card. But about 3 months after the paperwork is submitted, you should receive a temporary Work Authorization.
