Hello-
I have applied for an adjustment of status and green card based on my marriage to an american citizen. She filed an affadavit of support to sponsor me, but failed to meet the necessary income requirements since she has not been employed steadily for the past three years. I now need to have a new sponsor, or a joint sponsor, file an addtional affadavit of support on my behalf.
I have an uncle who is a US citizen. He is willing an able to sponsor me. However, his wife (also a citizen) has acted as a sponsor for two of her sisters and used their joint tax returns (for herself and her husband) as evidence of her finances. Here is my question: is my uncle also responsible for these two? On the affadavit of support where it asks "do you sponsor any additional people?" does he answer yes or no? Technically, he did not as he himself did not fill, sign, and file the papers, but since his name was also on the tax returns, it is confusing.
Is he already sponsoring these in-laws?
Do they count as part of his "household size"?
