When is temporary legal status granted?

Hi guys, I have concurrently filed my I-130, I-485, I-864, G-325A's, and I-765 recently to the Chicago lock box. I have recieved my form I-797C's for my I-485, I-130, and I-765, but it states on the top "THIS NOTICE DOES NOT GRANT ANY IMMIGRATION STATUS OR BENEFIT". I was under the impression that I would be able to use my I-797C's as proof of my 'temporary legal status' while my application was processing, so I could get my drivers license, etc, transferred here

Could anyone shed some light on this for me? I'm a little confused now.

I know some States, would, along with other documents, give drivers license, with the I-797 Receipt, but I also know that some states will not. What will definitely make u get that license is your work authorization card. Good luck.

The I-797 Receipt Notices of Action do not provide any temporary legal status. Even the EAD, if applied for at the same time with the I-485, is only temporary "right to work" but is not a "status."
