  • i-864 with two brand new jobs and under income for past couple years

I'm filing an i-864 in conjunction with i-485 for my wife. for the past 3 years on my tax returns I've been under the required income needed due to being in school full time so my income was low. I've only just this week started two new jobs which would place me over the minimum required, but I will only be getting my first paystubs in a week or two and have no established history with these jobs. Will one recent pay stub from each be enough evidence? Would you recommend submitting a joint sponsor in this situation? Thanks. I could also get a letter from each employer, however at one of the jobs I am relief staff, and have no set number of hours worked per week. While there is seemingly always work available I do not think they would be comfortable saying specifically that I "work ___ number of hours per week" because in theory they can't guarantee that shifts will be available.

also, does a joint sponsor have to live in the same house as you? If they do not, does their income have to meet 125% of their own house in addition to the house of the immigrant they are sponsoring... or 125% of just the house of the person they are sponsoring?

Since you are the petiitioner and primary sponsor, include estimated annual income and employment verifications, but your lack of recent employment history justifies using a joint sponsor, who provides his own I-864 package. The joint sponsor does not have to live at the same address as you.
