I485 Approved - ADIT - Reopened !?

Hi guys,

I am in a confusion what to do or what happened to my I485 application. I filed I485 on December 2013, and I was interviewed on July. However, during the interview, there was a mismatch with the date of birth in my birth certificate so USCIS requested new evidence.

The RFE was given on Aug.
Since then, the statuses are like this



Your Case Status: Initial Review
On August 23, 2014, we received your correspondence for your I485, APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS . You will receive a notice in the mail when further action is taken on this case.

On December 12, 2014, we ordered your new card for Receipt Number MSC YYYY YYYY , and will mail it to the address you gave us. If you do not receive your card by January 11, 2015

It has been 3 days since the last status change and I haven't received any notice so far. I was wondering, why they changed the case status to "reopened" after sending an email confirming that they registered my permanent resident status ?

im on the same boat as you, exactly the same sequence of events...I went for the green card interview last week, I got the "ordered new card" notification on April 18. Then "Mailed you a welcome notice" on April 20. And today "case reopened for reconsideration"...what end up happening to your case? i dont know what to think now!

I got the card after waiting few more weeks. All you have to do is to wait. Contacting them won't do any help. Simply wait few more weeks.

Ok, Here is my timeline

02/15/2014 We reopened your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status.
02/10/2015 We ordered your new card.
02/10/2015 We registered your permanent resident status and mailed you a Welcome Notice.
02/12/2015 We ordered your new card.
02/19/2015 We mailed your new card to the address you gave us.
02/19/2015 The Post Office picked up mail containing your new card


So, in my case, I had to wait about 2 months ( not few weeks as I said earlier ) to get my card. As you have just got the reopening status, I guess all you have to do is wait 2 more months for an update. If you are lucky you may get an update soon.

Yes, I've received the original "Welcome to USA" and the reopening case letter. The reopening letter just said that the case has been reopened. It didn't mention the reason or whatsoever. After 2 months I received the card.

in my case im still waiting...i received welcome letter and then the reopen the case letter. i called and talked to a l2 officer, she said shell look into it and send me a letter explaining why. 3 days later i received letter from immigration in response to my call but it didnt say anything new...it just says my case has been reopened...


so im just waiting, thats all i can do...whats your case? did you have an interview? timeline?

My case was just updated to New card production and then couple hours later Welcome notice was sent!! Hope this time it stays this way

Wow congrats, I will be praying for you. Well my case a very similar to yours my welcome notice was sent out on april 24 but then the 27th, my case was reopened so now I just wait. Do you have any clue as to why this happened? Im hoping the same thing will happen to me and they will send out my card. Wishing you the best!! My interview was months ago and they asked to send in additional information which I did. Its was 5 months since I sent in the additional info after the interview on the day my Welcome letter was sent, this month it will be 6 months

Scared about post decision on my case!!!!

Hey guys I am now exactly in the same situation as you, I received my Welcome letter on August 7th 2015 and today August 10th, 2015 I received exactly the same notice stating that my case was reopened for reconsideration. Can any body tell about his/her experience, specially what happened with the greencard. I will appreciate your help Thank you
