  • file transferred back to Vermont Service Center

I would really appreciate if anyone can reply me.

I filed my I-485 (employment bassed) in March 2003 with Vermont service center then in Oct 2004 my file was transferred to Washington DC local office for the scheduling of an interview. I was waiting and waiting for an interview then just yeterday I got update that my file has been sent back to Vermont Service Center and it was written that it is taking between 365 and 540 days for us to process this kind of case. We will mail you a decision as soon as processing is complete. I am not sure why it has gone back to Vermont from Washington DC office.

I called National Customer Service Center at (800) 375 5283 today and was being told by the office that now they are processing cases as of Dec 2004 and as my filed date is march 2003 so probably my file will be processed quickly and if I don't receive any notice within 60 days I can call back and they will initiate an inquiry.

What you think that will I have to wait another 365-540 days after already waiting for 3 years or I can receive any response in next 60 days.

Please help me with your valuable suggestion.. please

    Thanks,
    Ismail.

There is no relation to actual duration it takes to approve the case and the duration that they write in the notice.

      I-485

My wife's case also went back to Vermont Service center. She filed her I-485 at Vermont in Dec. 2003 as a dependent to me (My I-485 was pending at that time). Her file was transferred to Washington DC office in Jan. 2005. We also got the same case update as you. It looked like it went back to Vermont . I was going to call the service center.

            Letter from VSC
            Thursday, April 13, 2006
On 03/07/2006 you contacted us about your case.
" Based on your request we researched the status of this case. We are actively processing this case. However, we have to perform additional review on this case and this has caused a longer processing time.If you do not receive a decision or other notice of action from us within 6 months of this letter, please call costumer service."

I guess VSC needs to clean all the pending cases up to oct06. Good deal!
