  • Finally! A Huge Step

Let me preface by confessing that I've been peeking in on this forum for months now. Also, if only more Americans knew of the immigration process they'd be far more understanding.

Last night my husband and I mailed the package with all the necessary paperwork to begin the process of finally, after 14, years, adjusting my status from undocumented to legal permanent resident. This isn't without nerves. I suppose it's just such a huge step, and it seems a dream may finally come true, that I'm nervous some small thing might mess it up. I've been taking solace over the past several months (when we had serious talks of finally getting hitched, after four years together) in reading a lot of the posts here. Knowing I'm not alone has helped alleviate some of the stress.

I guess I just needed to get some of that off my chest, since my immigration status isn't something I've shared with many over the years.

My biometrics appointment was today! I honestly didn't expect to be nearly as efficient as it was, especially since this is New Orleans. :P

My appointment was at 9 AM. My husband and I got there a bit early. By the time we got through security, it was 9. We got back to the car, after the appointment around 9:15.

Here's hoping it doesn't take terribly long for my EAD card to show up.

That's was pretty fast! It depend anyway.
If they request for initial evidence, it always slow down the normal 90 days clock of getting EAD. Which of the service center handling ur application???

Missouri (MSC). Hopefully they won't need anything. I was mesmerized by the fingerprinting machine. The woman who processed me joked that the novelty quickly wore off for her.
