  • I-130 question no. 22 / adj. Of status

This question has been asked before but I would like to raise it again because I am sure that some of the applicants are also being confused by this part of form I-130. I would like to solicit advise from some members here how they respond to this part of the form, specially if Mr. RAYB can give his insight about this question as this part also gave me some trouble to fill out......

I am applying for GC for my IMMEDIATE RELATIVE while he is in the US. I'm filing 130 and 485 at the same time.

While filling out I-130 I was not sure how to answer Question 22 under section C. The question which USCIS office will my Immediate Relative apply for AOS.

Will the place be same as CHICAGO, IL which is where I'm mailing the forms to or is it Las Vegas, NV. which is where we live?

Thanks for your help. Here is the question from I-130.

    ---------------------

    22. Complete the information below if your relative is in the United States and will apply for adjustment of status.

Your relative is in the United States and will apply for adjustment of status to that of a lawful permanent resident at USCIS office in:

    (City) (State)

That question on #22 has never seemed "honest," since no matter what you put there, it could be different. You can put the USCIS city where you are sending the I-485 (Chicago), but you won't be interviewed there, unless you live in Chicago. I would opt for the closest city where USCIS does Adjustment interviews. Often, local offices are not used for Adjustment interviews, but more distant busier office, instead (Atlanta and Chicago being examples).
