Hi everyone, I'm here in California on the (ESTA) Visa Waver Program and wondering if it's okay to get married and then apply for I-485 for green card? I have about 20 days left on the 90 day period I am allowed to stay in the US on this visa. I've read different reports on various forms about whether it's okay to apply for the I-485 on Visa Waver Program so I want to make sure it's fine in my case.
Also, if I get married this week, I will not have time to wait the 6 weeks to get the marriage certificate in the mail so want to make sure that the government will accept my marriage receipt that will be issued at the courthouse after I get married?
