Last name issues in passport and birth certificate

Hello All,

We're on H1B/H4 status and are trying to apply for I-485. We have the following queries and would need your help for the same.

1) My husbands passport has incorrect fathers last name vis-a-vis his birth certificate(husbands). The last name has a 'Y' letter instead of 'I'.
2) Both my parents name have initials for last name in my birth certificate. The last name is not fully expanded.

Will these create any problem for our I-485 adjudication? Also,we're not sure if we should get a new passport as the current one has H1B visa appended to it.

HELLO,

It really depends on the officer who is reading your application. I have heard of cases similar to yours where RFEs have been given while for there are others who have not had issues.
