Hi!!! My husband (US citizen) is petitioning for me for adjustment status. We had no problem filling in most of the form, but got stuck with I-864.
I was trying to figure it out on my own, but the situation is very tricky. Last year my husband petitioned his mother and she received a Green Card. Now she has a stable income and a good job. Because it has been only a year she is still considered our household/his dependant. Is that right? and it seems like she could file a I864a form with my husband, because his income would not be sufficient for a household of three (him, his mother and me)...
however, in I 864a instructions and various websites it is said that in order to file I 864a form she has to live at the same address as us....
so, being a dependent because she was petitioned for less than 5 years ago, therefore, a part of our household, but living at a different place. (also their taxes are not joined) what form can she file in order to show support?
I know it is confusing... please bear with me... Thank you!
