  • Co-sponsor documents question

    Hi all,

I'm new to posting on this forum but not new to reading all your experiences posted. Thanks for sharing, they have really been helpful in answering questions I've had as I'm going through this process.

Here's my question now: when submitting I-864 documents for a co-sponsor, do we need to submit all 3 years of tax returns, and all 3 years of W2s along with the other supporting docs for the I-864?
We received only the 2014 tax return and W2 from the sponsor as she was unable to locate the other years right away.
Would only this current year be sufficient? We are preparing these in response to an RFE.
Please any reply will be appreciated. Thanks.

For a co-sponsor, all you need is a copy of the most recent federal tax return, W2's, an employment verification letter, and copy of co-sponsors Naturalizatiion cert or U.S. birth cert, or Green Card .

If this is a RFE, then whatever is asked for is essential for u to provide. For the I-864, yes provide all evidence. For the tax returns, the most important one, is of course the 2014. None the less, even if you do not have the actual documents for the other two years's amounts; U could apply online and get the certified tax returns, within ten days. I hope this helps.

Thanks Mary, it does help. She (the co sponsor) will apply for the other 2 years transcripts but we wanted to respond to the request ASAP so our processing will be continued soon enough. Thanks again for your info. Mary.
