Help needed, Form I-864 Question on last 3 year income

Hi,

I'm filling for AOS with my husband as sponsor (US Citizen)

He has the last 2 years income with all documents needed, tax return (2014 and 2013), however, he doesn't remember or have paperwork for 2012. He tried to contact IRS to get those information but had no luck getting a hold of them. Only way he can do right now is getting the document through IRS mailing option, which takes about 2 weeks to get it.

My question is, is it okay to put the last 2 years instead of 3? Should I risk putting that, or should I wait until he receives everything needed.

The actual 2012, is not necessary to send. If he filed taxes that year, then the amount is necessary; unless, he did file taxes for 2012, then he may need to explain why he didn't file.
