I filed I 485 green card through marriage aboUT a month ago. I just receive a RFE stating that based on the documents submitted with form I 864 the income didn't meet 125% of the poverty guideline for the petitioner/sponsor household.submit evidence of assets that meet the standard listed below or obtain a joint sponsor
*asset must equal the difference for applicants filing as orphans , a spouse, or child of an active duty military member
*asset must equal three times the difference for a spouse or child of a united states citizen
*asset must equal five times the difference for all others
    Evidence of assets include
*bank statement covering the last 12 month or a statement from an officer of the bank
*evidence of ownership and value stock bonds and certificate of deposit
*evidence of ownership a recent licensed appraisal or county taX assessment.
please can anyone help me tell me what specifically they are asking for. When submitting my application I included the I 864 along with our jointly filed tax return even though i am not working at this point.we are a family of 3 which include my husband our 11 month old and me.my husband makes around 26000 a year. is this enough what else should i submit .i am running out of time to send the new application.

Hi, I'm no expert here to this whole process. I received a similare RFE, except yours seem less complicated than mine based on what you wrote. It appears your husband's income (assuming he's your sponsor/petitioner) did not meet the guidelines set out by USCIS....check out these guidelines on form I-864p on their website. I don't know the direct link.

Getting a joint sponsor seemed way easier to me than using assets, so I immediately worked on the joint sponsor packet.
    I'm patiently waiting now.

I hope this response can help a little.

thanks for your response ,they gave 10 days to reply back. i will check the 125 poverty guideline. we assume if he is making 26000 a year for just the 3 of us shouldnt it be enough

Wow! Your time to respond is really short.
However, do not assume what the income should be; go on their website and check that form. It should show you the number for a family of 3, military or non-military. That is the guideline USCIS will use, so should you.

Again, if your husband's income is below the guideline, get a joint sponsor....it my be easier.

        All the best!

          strange

I guess u counted someone twice on your i864 and actually put 4 for household size because 26000 would be enough forr a household of 3
