Is PD need to be current until the GC is issued?

Hello friends,
I have a question and I hope you can answer please...
My PD got current in 2011 and applied for I485 and have been on EAD since then. My PD got current last year (EB2 India) to get the GC but I got an RFE due to a document missing for which we have replied while the PD was current itself. We didn't hear back from USCIS for a while and now the PD has gone back, the online status is showing a generic update. Does the PD need to be current again for USCIS to issue the GC?
